West Babylon, N.Y. - The East Coast Conference announced the 2020-21 recipients of its annual Academic Team of Excellence Awards on Friday afternoon.

The ECC Academic Team of Excellence Award is presented to the team with the highest cumulative grade point average in their respective sport. D’Youville University and Molloy University led the way as both institutions had six teams honored. University of the District of Columbia (3) and Roberts Wesleyan College (2) also had multiple teams claim the award, while Mercy College and the College of Staten Island each had one winner.

Three teams repeated as winners of the award. Mercy men’s lacrosse won for the third straight season, while D’Youville women’s basketball and Roberts Wesleyan men’s lacrosse earned the honor for the second year in a row.

Over 83 percent of the conference's teams (127 total) achieved a 3.0 team GPA or higher. UDC’s women's tennis team put together the highest overall team GPA in the conference at 3.79.  Mercy’s men's tennis team had the highest GPA on the men’s side with a 3.65.
