Throughout the year, the East Coast Conference will shine light
on our member institution’s community service and outreach
initiatives in the ECC Community Spotlight feature. The first
member to be highlighted is C.W. Post and their baseball team for
involvement with the Brendan and Liam Shanahan Foundation.
On October 15, 2011, the C.W. Post Baseball team played an
exhibition game against the Hank Yanks, a program established by
New York Yankees owner Hank Steinbrenner. All of the proceeds from
the game were given to The Brendan and Liam Shanahan Foundation., a
non-profit organization whose mission is is to ease the burden that
families face who have chronically and terminally ill children,
along with helping fund research for Alpers Disease.
Tyler Shanahan, Brendan and Liam’s brother, also threw out
the ceremonial first pitch prior to the game. In total, the event
helped to raise over $1,000.00 for the Brendan and Liam Shanahan
Foundation.

Community Spotlight features.
