ECC Softball Report - Week Eight

Player of the Week
Abbie Landrum, St. Thomas Aquinas (So, P/IF - Buena Park, Calif.)
Landrum excelled both at the plate and in the circle last week. She posted a 2-2 record with an excellent earned run average of 0.75. She closed the week with a masterful one-hit shutout over the College of Staten Island. For the week, she yielded only 19 hits in 28 innings, while registering 21 strikeouts. At the plate, Landrum hit .368 with three doubles and two home runs while driving in five. She also worked six walks to register a .520 on-base percentage for the week. 

Pitcher of the Week
Carissa Della Vecchia, St. Thomas Aquinas (Gr, P - Wappingers Falls, N.Y.)
Della Vecchia registered a 4-0 record in the week with two shutouts and an impressive 0.50 earned run average. She struck out 48 batters in 28 innings with just one walk. Her four wins included a 14-strikeout effort against Mercy College and 13 strikeouts in wins over D'Youville University and College of Staten Island. The lefty is currently ranked sixth nationally in NCAA Division II in strikeouts-per-seven-innings with 10.4.

Rookie of the Week
Cayla Crawford, Mercy (Fr, C - Hemet, Calif.)
Crawford hit .444 (8-for-18) with four RBI and two runs scored. The freshman went 3-for-6 with an RBI against STAC on Tuesday and went 2-for-6 with a run against Molloy on Saturday. Crawford ended the week going 3-for-6 with three RBI in the split against D'Youville on Sunday.


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Steph Conrade, Molloy (Sr, OF - Franklin Square, N.Y.)
Conrade led the Lions with a .545 batting average, recording a hit in each of the team's six contests on the week, including five of two or more. The senior drove in three runs on the week, two against Mercy and one against No. 25 Wilmington and had a 4-for-7 doubleheader against No. 15 Adelphi.

Allyson Dilday, Queens (Sr, P - Castle Rock, Colo.)
In the Tuesday DH against CSI, Dilday put on a pitching clinic as the Castle Rock native pitched back-to-back games putting in 14 innings of work as she limited the Dolphins to 10 hits, one earned run, four walks, and punched out a total of 21 batters. In game one, Dilday recorded a season-high 12 strikeouts as the Knights clinched the series victory with a 5-1 win. In game two, she would pitch her second shutout against the Dolphins as she added 9 strikeouts to her tally as she held CSI scoreless for a combined 13 innings on the day as Queens swept the season series over their CUNY foe.

Sarah Parzych, D'Youville (So, P - Getzville, N.Y.)
The right-hander earned consecutive complete game wins over the weekend including a one-hitter on Saturday in a 1-0 victory at STAC in a 2-2 weekend for the Saints.

Shannon Sisco, Mercy (Jr, OF - Cicero, N.Y.)
Sisco hit a team-high .545 (12-for-22) with eight runs, two RBI, and two stolen bases. The junior went 2-for-7 with two runs and an RBI against STAC on Tuesday. Sisco then went 6-for-7 with three runs, an RBI, and her 100th career hit against Molloy on Saturday. The outfielder ended the week going 4-for-8 with three runs against D'Youville on Sunday.

ECC Team Notes

D'Youville: No team notes submitted.

Mercy: The Mercy College softball team went 3-3 on the week with splits against STAC, Molloy and D'Youville. Mercy was led by senior Sydney Johnston who had a team-high six RBI. Mercy resumes action on Saturday when they play at Staten Island at 12 p.m.

Molloy: No team notes submitted.

Queens: Queens swept the season series over CSI as the Knights went 2-0 on the week in their lone doubleheader of the week. It will be a six-game week for the Knights as they open the week with a mid-week non-conference doubleheader against Caldwell on the road before concluding ECC play against Molloy on Thursday (Apr. 27) at home. The regular season concludes against STAC on Saturday (Apr. 29) afternoon.

Staten Island: The Dolphins were without a win this week as they lost twice to Queens on Tuesday, twice to the College of Saint Rose on Wednesday, and twice to St. Thomas Aquinas on Sunday.

St. Thomas Aquinas: The St. Thomas Aquinas College Softball team (24-15-1, 11-4-1 ECC) went 6-2 last week, sweeping doubleheaders with Bloomfield (1-0 & 6-1) and Staten Island (7-1 & 7-0), while splitting with both Mercy and D'Youville. STAC returns to action on April 25 at Molloy (3 p.m./5 p.m.) and April 29 vs. Queens (12 p.m./2 p.m.).
