ECC Softball Report - Week Four

Player of the Week
Steph Conrade, Molloy (Sr, OF - Franklin Square, N.Y.)
Conrade hit .444 on the week, recording eight hits and two doubles while scoring six runs and driving in four. On the base paths, the centerfielder stole three bases.

Pitcher of the Week
Alexandra Frenza, Staten Island (Fr, P / 1B - New Paltz, NY)
Frenza appeared in three of the four games the Dolphins played last week and was effective in all three outings. She allowed just one earned run in 7.1 innings and picked up the win in the Dolphins' eight-run comeback against American International on Wednesday. In that game, Frenza had her best outing of the week pitching 3.2 scoreless innings to preserve a one-run lead in the CSI victory over the Yellow Jackets.

Rookie of the Week
Mae Savage, Molloy (Fr, IF - San Diego, Calif.)
Savage hit .389 on the week for the Lions, recording seven hits that included a double and her first career home run. She also drove in six runs and scored three. 


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Alyssa Acosta, Staten Island (Fr, OF - Los Angeles, Calif.)
Acosta finished the week hitting .417 and hit safely in three of CSI's four games. She was also a key part of the comeback by the Dolphins in their 9-8 win over American International on Wednesday. In that game, she was 2-4 with an RBI and one run scored as the Dolphins came from eight runs down to beat the Yellow Jackets by one.

Lauren Booth, D'Youville (Jr, P - Lancaster, N.Y.)
In four appearances in the circle last week, Booth finished with a 1-0 record and a 2.15 ERA. In 13.0 innings of work, she scattered 15 hits, struck out eight, and allowed just four runs. She also contributed at the plate, smacking two home runs to drive in all five Saints' runs in a 5-2 win over Queens.

Samantha Franck, Mercy (Sr, 1B - La Habra Heights, Calif.)
Franck hit .385 (5-for-13) with five RBI, a home run, two runs, and two doubles in six games. The senior went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a double at Caldwell on Friday. Franck ended the week going 2-for-3 with two runs, a double, a home run, and four RBI in game two against Goldey-Beacom on Sunday.

Ann Grimshaw, Queens (Sr, UTL - New Hyde Park, N.Y.)
Over four games on the week, Grimshaw batted .467 with a .600 slugging percentage on seven hits, two doubles, and three RBI while recording three multi-hit games. In the comeback 9-8 victory over DYU, the New Hyde Park native went 2-for-4 with two RBI as Queens rallied back to earn their first ECC win of the season.

ECC Team Notes

D'Youville: No team notes submitted.

Mercy: The Mercy College softball team went 2-4 on the week with wins over Goldey-Beacom and losses to Adelphi and Caldwell. Mercy was led by senior Sydney Johnston who had a team-high six RBI. Mercy resumes action on Tuesday when they host STAC at 2:30 p.m.

Molloy: Molloy went an even 3-3 on the week, sweeping the College of Staten Island to open up league play before splitting with the University of Bridgeport and falling twice to Georgian Court in non-conference action. This week, the Lions have a busy eight game schedule beginning on the road at New Haven on Tuesday before three straight doubleheaders at home against Mercy (Mar. 30), Pace (Apr. 1) and Queens (Apr. 2).

Queens: The Knights went 1-3 on the week as they took three tough losses before a comeback 9-8 victory over DYU Sunday afternoon concluded the week on a high note. Four doubleheaders are on the docket for Queens as ECC play continues on Tuesday in Flushing against CSI before welcoming AIC and Dominican on Thursday and Friday afternoon. The week concludes on Sunday afternoon against Molloy on the road.

Staten Island: The Dolphins opened the week with a pair of losses to Molloy on Tuesday and bounced back with two wins over American International College the following day. Against the Yellow Jackets, the Dolphins picked up a 4-3 win, the 300th in the career of Head Coach Tracey Garofalo, and a 9-8 win which saw the team come back from down 8-0.

St. Thomas Aquinas: The St. Thomas Aquinas College Softball team (7-7) went 1-1 last week, splitting a doubleheader with Saint Anselm (W, 2-1 & L, 7-6). STAC returns to action on March 28 at Mercy (2:30 p.m./4:30 p.m.), March 30 against Staten Island (2:30 p.m./4:30 p.m.) and April 1 at D'Youville (3 p.m./5 p.m.)
