ECC Men's Tennis Report - Week Nine

Player of the Week
Moritz Borges, Queens (Gr - Dinslaken, Germany)
Borges went 4-0 on the week earning victories at No. 5 singles and No. 3 double over the course of two matches. The graduate student earned a doubles victory before earning a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Alberto Navarro of STAC as the Knights earned the series split. The German native would conclude his week with a victory in doubles and singles in a crucial regional game over Le Moyne as he earned a 6-2 victory at No. 3 doubles and a 6-3, 6-3 at No. 5 singles over Kacper Piekarek.

Rookie of the Week
Ondrej Sramek, St. Thomas Aquinas (Fr - Trebechovice pod Orebem, Czech Republic)
Despite STAC's 4-3 loss to the Knights, Sramek helped the Spartans rally back from a 2-0 deficit to tie the score at 2-2 with his singles victory over Queens College's Lucas Demuth (7-5, 6-3).


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Cameron Henricy, Queens (So - Las Palmas, Spain)
Henricy was instrumental in helping the Knights defeat No. 38 STAC and gave the Spartans their first loss of the season as the sophomore clinched the match at No. 1 singles over Ody Papaioannou in three sets (4-6, 6-3, 6-3).

Louis Mangeon, Dist. Columbia (Sr - Belbeuf, France)
Mangeon went 2-0 against Salem University, winning both his singles and doubles match at No.1.

ECC Team Notes

Daemen: No team notes submitted.

District of Columbia: UDC went 0-2 in the conference play on the week. They welcome Daemen University at home on Friday.

Queens: the Knights went 2-0 on the week earning two ECC victories over UDC and Daemen. Cameron Henricy went 2-0 on the week in singles at the No. 2 court. Queens returns to action on Tuesday as they travel to Sparkill against STAC before matching up against Le Moyne on Thursday evening at home.

St. Thomas Aquinas: The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Tennis team (14-1, 4-1 ECC) saw its perfect season ended by Queens College, 4-3. STAC returns to action against Chestnut Hill on April 12, Dominican on April 13 and at UDC on April 15.
