ECC Men's Tennis Report - Week Six

Player of the Week
Odysseas Papaioannou, St. Thomas Aquinas (Gr - Thessaloniki, Greece)
Papaioannou went 6-1 last week, winning all three of his singles matches and going 3-1 in doubles play to help the Spartans go 4-0 on the team's Florida Spring Break trip and remain perfect (9-0) on the season.

Rookie of the Week
Ondrej Sramek, St. Thomas Aquinas (Fr - Trebechovice pod Orebem, Czech Republic)
Sramek went 6-2 last week, winning all four of his singles matches and going 4-2 in doubles play to help the Spartans go 4-0 on the team's Florida Spring Break trip and remain perfect (9-0) on the season.


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Cameron Henricy, Queens (So - Las Palmas, Spain)
Henricy went undefeated going 6-0 on the week with a 2-0 singles and 4-0 doubles record. The sophomore began the week with a doubles victory at No. 3 court over Chestnut Hill and Bluefield before earning his first conference victory at No. 1 doubles against UDC in ECC play and concluded his doubles week on a perfect note defeating Merrimack at No. 3 court. In singles play, he would go 2-0 in victories over Bluefield at the No. 2 court and a victory at No. 1 court against UDC in conference play.

Louis Mangeon, Dist. Columbia (Sr - Belbeuf, France)
Mangeon went 2-1 in singles play on the week defeating his opponents at West Chester and Adelphi. He put up a tough battle against Queens forcing a third set and battling until the final point.

Roni Rikkonen, Queens (Jr - Tampere, Finland)
Rikkonen went 5-0 on the week going 2-0 in singles and 3-0 in doubles with all wins coming at the No. 1 court. The junior began the week with a doubles victory at the No. 1 court against Chestnut Hill before earning singles and doubles victories at the No. 1 court against Bluefield and Merrimack to help Queens go 4-0 on the week.

ECC Team Notes

Daemen: No team notes submitted.

District of Columbia: UDC went 1-2 on the week, winning a home match up against West Chester during the week and falling to Queens and Adelphi on the road over the weekend. They are back home next week as they host Marymount.

Queens: The Knights went 4-0 on the week earning three sweeps in victories over Chestnut Hill, Bluefield, and UDC before earning a 5-2 victory over D1 Merrimack. Queens returns to ECC play as the Knights welcome STAC to Flushing on Friday afternoon.

St. Thomas Aquinas: The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Tennis team (9-0) continued its perfect streak in Florida by beating Dallas Baptist (5-2), Carthage (7-0), St. Mary's (TX) (4-2) and Washington (MO) (5-2). STAC returns to action against Yeshiva on March 23 (3 p.m.) and March 24 Queens (1 p.m.).
