ECC Men's Tennis Report - Week Three

Player of the Week
Cameron Henricy, Queens (So - Las Palmas, Spain)
Henricy went 3-1 on the week as the Knights defeated two Division I opponents in LIU and Saint Francis College Brooklyn over the weekend. The sophomore began the week going 2-0 against LIU as he earned a win at No. 3 doubles with partner Moritz Borges to the score of 6-0 before completing a comeback victory at No. 1 singles to the score of 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 to help the Knights earn a 5-2 victory. On Saturday against the Terriers, Henricy would go 1-1 picking up a crucial doubles victory at No. 3 with Borges as Queens picked up their second victory of the weekend.

Rookie of the Week
Ondrej Sramek, St. Thomas Aquinas (Fr - Trebechovice pod Orebem, Czech Republic)
Sramek helped the Spartans remain perfect on the season with a pair of victories in STAC's 7-0 victory over Manhattanville. The freshman from the Czech Republic teamed with Ivan Laiz to defeat Luis Gonzalez & Shiel Loganadan 6-1 in doubles action, before taking down Weston Goodwin 6-0, 6-1 in singles play.


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Lucas DeMuth, Queens (Sr - Buenos Aires, Argentina)
Demuth went 3-0 on the week earning two victories on Friday against LIU before ending the week with a doubles victory against Saint Francis College Brooklyn. The senior began the week earning the clinching point with partner Roni Rikkonen at No. 2 doubles with a 6-3 comeback victory before helping the Knights take a commanding lead in singles play at No. 3 with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Gui Medeiros. He would end the week with a crucial doubles victory with Rikkonen at No. 2 to the final score of 7-6 (7-4) Saturday evening as Queens earned their second straight victory.

ECC Team Notes

Daemen: The Daemen University men's tennis team dropped their fourth match in the spring, falling 0-7 to Edinboro in a non-league match.

District of Columbia: The Firebirds fell to DI Morgan State University and will be back in action on March 5th, hosting Harford CC.

Queens:  Men's Tennis went 2-0 on the week defeating two Division I schools on the week with a score line of 5-2 over LIU and Saint Francis College. Lucas Demuth led the way as he went 3-0 on the week. The Knights return to action on Tuesday (Feb. 28) afternoon as they host FDU Knights before concluding the week against Jefferson University Rams on Saturday (Mar. 4) evening.

St. Thomas Aquinas: The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Tennis team (5-0) continued its perfect season, shutting out Manhattanville 7-0 last week. STAC returns to action in Florida (March 13-17) for the team's annual spring break trip.
