ECC Men's Tennis Report - Week One

	Player of the Week *Juan Estevez Hernandez, Dist. Columbia (Sr - Daganzo de Arriba, Spain)* Hernandez went 2-0 in the Firebirds' close loss against Division I program Howard University. He was the only Firebird to not lose a match on the day, beating Daniel Dunac at No. 4 singles (2-6, 6-4, 1-0) and picking up a win at No. 3 doubles (6-2).
	Rookie of the Week Ondrej Sramek, St. Thomas Aquinas (Fr - Trebechovice pod Orebem, Czech Republic) Sramek clinched the doubles point for the Spartans, along with teammate Tony Khamassi, over Arjun Sriram & Joshua Oboniye, 6-3. He then went on to defeat Gryffin Minor in singles action 6-4, 6-1 to help STAC beat Division I FDU, 4-3 in the team's spring season opener.

ECC Team Notes

	Daemen: Daemen opened the spring portion of their 2021-22 season with a 6-1 loss to Division I Niagara on Saturday evening, falling to 0-4. The Wildcats are back in action this week when they visit Division III Allegheny (2/23) and host Edinboro (2/25).
	District of Columbia: UDC fell to Division I program Howard University 3-4, in their lone game of the week. They head to Baltimore on the 24th to face on another DI program, Morgan State University.
	Queens: The Knights (1-1) open the 2023 season with a non-conference matchup against Monmouth University Saturday evening.
	St. Thomas Aquinas: The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Tennis team (3-0, 0-0 ECC) opened its 2023 Spring Season, defeating Division I Fairleigh Dickinson University, 4-3 on February 4. STAC will next host Adelphi University on February 18 (6:45 p.m.).
