ECC Women's Soccer Report - Week Four

Offensive Player of the Week
Tatyjana Scalisi, Daemen (Jr, F - Williamsville, N.Y.)
Scalisi established a new career-high seven-point outing (three goals, assist) in Daemen's 9-0 win over Lincoln on Sept. 26. Her performance came after recording a goal and an assist in Daemen's previous contest versus D'Youville on Sept. 18. She scored in the ninth, 18th, and 21st minutes against the Lions and also assisted on Faye Panagopoulos' first goal in the 21st minute against the Lions. Scalisi is now tied for the team lead in goals (4) and leads in overall points (11) through six contests.

Defensive Player of the Week
Jackie Carty, Molloy (Sr, GK - East Islip, N.Y.)
Carty made a season-high nine saves in Molloy's win over Bridgeport for her fifth shutout of the season.

Rookie of the Week
Jillian Bernas, D'Youville (Fr, F/M - Cheektowaga, N.Y.)
Bernas tallied the game-winning goal in D'Youville's 4-0 win over Medaille on Tuesday and supplied the assist on the Saints' first goal in their 2-1 win over St. Thomas Aquinas on Saturday. The first-year Saint is second on the team in goals (2) and points (5). 


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Nikki Bermudez, Mercy (Gr, M/F - Oceanside, N.Y.)
Bermudez scored a goal in the Mavericks win over St. Thomas Aquinas on Tuesday and at Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday.

Alyssa Diaz, Daemen (Fr, D - Rochester, N.Y.)
Diaz recorded a four-point day with one goal, two assist performance in Daemen's 9-0 win over Lincoln on Sept. 26. She assisted on Tatyjana Scalisi's first two goals in the ninth and 18th minutes and later scored the team's final goal of the day in the 65th minute. Diaz scored for the first time since Daemen's 3-1 loss to Goldey-Beacom on Sept. 4, 2021.

Jessica Hoyt, Mercy (Sr, D - Kings Park, N.Y.)
Hoyt had an assist in the Mavericks wins at St. Thomas Aquinas on Tuesday and at Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday. The senior helped lead a defense that allowed just one goal in two games.

Lexi Verni, Molloy (Jr, M - Patchogue, N.Y.)
Verni tallied the game-winning goal in the 47th minute in the Lions' 2-0 victory over Bridgeport.

ECC Team Notes

Bridgeport: The University of Bridgeport women's soccer team heads into this week's play with a 3-4-0 overall record and a 0-1-0 ECC mark. Last week, the Purple Knights fell at home to Molloy, 2-0, and this week, they travel to Mercy on Wednesday and host D'Youville on Saturday. Graduate student Andrea Basilicato leads the Purple Knights in scoring with five points on two goals and one assist so far in 2021.

Daemen: The Wildcats won their second straight contest with 9-0 victory against Lincoln (Pa.) on Sept. 26, recording their second shutout of the season. Daemen led 7-0 at halftime and both Tatyjana Scalisi and Faye Panagopoulos recorded hat tricks. The Wildcats are back in action to face Roberts Wesleyan on Wednesday, Sept. 29.

D'Youville: Saints picked up the program's first ECC win on Saturday over St. Thomas Aquinas, 2-1 ... The Saints also shut out Medaille 4-0 on Tuesday night ... Kavina Ganeshan & Brooke Ianiero scored the first goals of their D'Youville careers on Saturday against the Spartans ...

Lincoln: Lincoln fell to 0-5-0 (0-2-0 ECC) on the season with losses to Bloomfield and Daemen last week. This week, the Lions will travel to Staten Island on Wednesday before hosting Queens on Saturday. 

Mercy: The Mercy College women's soccer team went 2-0 on the week with wins over STAC and Roberts Wesleyan. The Mavericks were led by Nikki Bermudez who had a team-high two goals. Mercy resumes action on Wednesday when they host Bridgeport at 12 p.m.

Molloy: Molloy topped Bridgeport, 2-0, Saturday, September 25 to improve to 6-1 overall and 5-1 in league play. Lexi Verni tallied her fourth goal of the season in the 47th minute, and sophomore Sarah Tappeto recorded her second goal of the season in the 84th minute. Junior Annie Coogan registered an assist, and senior Jackie Carty made a season-high nine saves for her fifth shutout of the season.

Queens: The Knights opened conference play with a 4-2 victory over Staten Island. Conference play continues as they take on STAC Wednesday afternoon before taking on Lincoln University Saturday afternoon to conclude the week.

Roberts Wesleyan: The Roberts Wesleyan women's soccer team lost to Mercy 2-0 at home on Saturday. The Redhawks will be on the road at Daemen and CSI this week.

Staten Island: The College of Staten Island Women's Soccer Team suffered their fourth straight defeat at the hands of Georgian Court. Next, the Dolphins took on Queens College for the second time in program history, the College of Staten Island Women's Soccer team lost the meeting with the Knights by a final score of 4-2. The Dolphins will play the second of three consecutive ECC matches when they take on Lincoln on Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the opening match of a men's and women's soccer doubleheader.

St. Thomas Aquinas: The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Soccer team went 0-2 last week, losing to Mercy College 3-1 at home, before falling to D'Youville College 2-1 on the road. STAC will host Queens College on September 29 (12:30 p.m.).
