Offensive Player of the Week
Lexi Verni, Molloy (Jr, M - Patchogue, N.Y.)
Verni tallied a hat trick in Molloy's win over Roberts Wesleyan.

 

Defensive Player of the Week
Alessandra Santoriello, St. Thomas Aquinas (Jr, GK - Nutley, N.J.)
Santoriello picked up her first victory of the 2021 season in STAC's 8-0 victory over Lincoln University. Santoriello was 3-for-3 in save opportunities in the match.

Rookie of the Week
Baylin Tighe, Daemen (Fr, D - Tonawanda, N.Y.)
In Daemen's 3-1 victory over ECC opponent D'Youville on Sept. 18, Tighe received a pass from Tatyjana Scalisi and scored in the 31st minute - her first goal of the season and of her collegiate career.

 

ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Nikki Bermudez, Mercy (Gr, M/F - Oceanside, N.Y.)
Bermudez scored a goal in Mercy's 3-0 win over Staten Island on Saturday.

Tatyjana Scalisi, Daemen (Jr, F - Williamsville, N.Y.)
The junior forward played a role in all three of Daemen's goals in the team's 3-1 victory over D'Youville on Sept. 18. Scalisi netted her first goal of the season in the 24th minute and later assisted on goals from teammates Baylin Tighe (31st minute) and Faye Panagopoulos, who scored right before the final buzzer. Scalisi is now the team's leading scorer with four points on the young season.

Skyler Schwenkler, Mercy (So, M - San Diego, Calif.)
Schwenkler scored the game-winning goal and her first collegiate goal in Mercy's 3-0 win over Staten Island on Saturday.

Caitlin Speranza, St. Thomas Aquinas (Sr, M - Poughkeepsie, N.Y.)

Speranza posted two goals and an assist against Lincoln University in the Spartans' 8-0 victory. The senior midfielder registered nine shots against the Lions, with two going on goal and into the back of the net.

ECC Team Notes

Bridgeport: The UB women's soccer team went 0-2-0 on their road trip to Texas over the weekend falling at Texas Woman's University, 1-0, and Dallas Baptist, 4-0. Bridgeport is now 3-3-0 on the season. This week, the Purple Knights open ECC play by hosting Molloy on Saturday. Graduate student Andrea Basilicato leads Bridgeport in scoring with five points through six matches on two goals and one assist.

Daemen: Daemen moved to 2-3-0 on the season following a 3-1 non-conference loss to St. Anselm on Sept. 15 and a 3-1 victory in the ECC opener versus D'Youville on Sept. 18. Senior forward Grace Stranahan netted the lone Daemen goal of the contest in the 54th minute versus the Hawks. The Wildcats rebounded three days later against the Saints thanks to a one-goal, two-assist performance from junior forward Tatyjana Scalisi. Freshman Baylin Tighe and junior Faye Panagopoulos also scored for Daemen in their victory. The Wildcats are idle until Sept. 26 when they travel to Lincoln (Pa.).

D'Youville: The Saints fell to Daemen on Saturday 3-1 in the ECC opener for both teams ... Maggie Leeds scored on a free kick from about 40 yards out for D'Youville's goal on the afternoon ... Laurie Poeller made 11 saves on Saturday against the Wildcats ... The Saints step out of conference to face Medaille on Tuesday before hosting St. Thomas Aquinas this Saturday ...

Lincoln: Lincoln fell to 0-3 (0-1 ECC) on the season with a loss to St. Thomas Aquinas. The Lions have two games on tap this week, a non-conference matchup with Bloomfield on Tuesday before continuing ECC play with a visit to Daemen on Saturday.

Mercy: The Mercy College women's soccer team went 1-1 on the week with a win over Staten Island and a loss to Wilmington. The Mavericks were led by sophomores Kayla Camacho and Skyler Schwenkler who scored their first collegiate goals. Mercy resumes action on Tuesday when they play at STAC at 2 p.m.

Molloy: Molloy went 1-1 on the week to move to 5-1 on the year. The Lions were defeated by Caldwell, 2-1, in overtime Wednesday, September 15, and beat Roberts Wesleyan, 4-0, Saturday, September 18. Junior Sabrina Bell tallied her first collegiate goal, and sophomore Sarah Tappeto recorded an assist against Caldwell. Against the Redhawks, junior Lexi Verni netted her first career hat trick, sophomore Eleni Sofroniou scored her first goal of the season, and senior Jackie Carty made two saves for her fifth shutout of the season.

Queens: Women's soccer kick starts the week with non-conference action against Holy Family University Monday afternoon. The Knights will open up conference play against fellow CUNY College of Staten Island Saturday morning.

Roberts Wesleyan: The Roberts women's soccer team took losses at Mansfield and Molloy last week and are now 0-5-1. The Redhawks will host Mercy on Saturday for homecoming weekend.

Staten Island: The College of Staten Island Women's Soccer team played in their first East Coast Conference (ECC) matchup of the season against the Mavericks of Mercy College on a sunny Saturday afternoon in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. They lost by a final of, 3-0, moving their overall record to, 1-5 on the season and 0-1 in the ECC. The Mavericks improved to 2-1-2 (1-0 ECC). Up Next, the Dolphins play on the road at Georgian Court.

St. Thomas Aquinas: The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Soccer team went 1-1 last week, falling to Dominican College 5-1, before posting an 8-0 victory over Lincoln University. STAC will next host Mercy College on September 21 (2:00 p.m.), before traveling to D'Youville College on September 25 (12 p.m.).
