ECC Men's Tennis Report - Week Three

Player of the Week
Mariano Bibiloni, Queens (Jr - La Plata, Argentina)
Bibiloni, promoted to the No. 2 singles court, went 2-0 on the week. He defeated Danila Ishchanka of Division I Long Island University in straight sets (6-2, 6-2) before ending the week with a regional victory opver Max Bonte of Bentley with another straight-set sweep to the score of 6-2, 6-3.

 

Rookie of the Week
Ludovico Truffelli, St. Thomas Aquinas (Fr - Bologna, Italy)Philipp Uhde, Queens (Fr - Heidelberg, Germany)
Truffelli went 2-0 in his doubles and singles matches last week against Adelphi, helping the Spartans to a 5-2 victory. Truffelli picked up a 6-4 doubles victory over the team of Marko Jovanovic & Gabriel Balestero, with partner Eduard Simo. He then scored a 7-6 (3), 7-5 singles win over Salomon Arce Lema.


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Omar El Shehawey, Queens (So - Cairo, Egypt)
Promoted to the No. 3 singles court, Shehawey ended his week on a three-match win streak defeating LIU's Akhil Indrabalan and Bentley's Connor Aulson in straight sets.

Eduard Simo, St. Thomas Aquinas (Gr - Barcelona, Spain)
Eduard Simo went 2-0 in his doubles and singles matches last week against Adelphi, helping the Spartans to a 5-2 victory. Simo picked up a 6-4 doubles victory over the team of Marko Jovanovic & Gabriel Balestero, with partner Ludovico Truffelli. He then scored a 6-2, 6-2 singles win over Gabriel Balestero.

Philipp Uhde, Queens (Fr - Heidelberg, Germany)
Uhde improved to 2-0 in regional play as he defeated Bentley's Alexander Novins in straight sets 6-4, 6-1 to help the Knights pick up their second straight regional victory of the season.

ECC Team Notes

Daemen: Daemen (0-5, 0-0 ECC) was idle last week. The Wildcats return to action with a trio of contests this week, visiting Houghton (Mar. 9) and St. Bonaventure (Mar. 12) and hosting Pitt-Greensburg (Mar. 11).

District of Columbia: The Firebirds fell to 2-4 with a loss to Post on Saturday. The Firebirds are now off until Sunday, March 13 when they take on Navy. 

Queens: Men's tennis welcomes a new foe to Flushing as they host Edinboro University Thursday morning for the first time.

St. Thomas Aquinas: The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Tennis (6-1) team posted a 5-2 victory over Adelphi last week. STAC returns to action on March 11, taking on Edinboro at Queens College (3:00 p.m.).
