ECC Men's Tennis Report - Week One

Player of the Week
Kareem Rashad, Queens (Jr - Alexandria, Egypt)
Rashad went 1-1 on the week in singles play as he bounced back against Division I Fordham Juan Paredes with a 6-4, 6-4 victory at No. 1 singles and 6-1 victory at No. 1 doubles with partner Lucas Demuth.

Rookie of the Week
Ludovico Truffelli, St. Thomas Aquinas (Fr - Bologna, Italy)
Truffelli posted singles and doubles victories in the Spartans' spring opener versus Division I Fairleigh Dickinson. Truffelli posted a 6-2 victory at No. 2 doubles with teammate Eduard Simo over Arjun Sriram & Moric Budinszky. He then went on to defeat Thomas Linley 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 in the No. 4 singles position.

ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Louis Mangeon, District of Columbia (Jr - Belbeuf, France)
Mangeon went undefeated in the Firebird's lone game of the week, winning 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1 singles and 6-3 at No. 1 doubles. Next up, UDC is headed to N.Y. to face off against Le Moyne next weekend.

ECC Team Notes

	Daemen: Daemen opened the spring portion of their 2021-22 season with a 6-1 loss to Division I Niagara on Saturday evening, falling to 0-4. The Wildcats are back in action this week when they visit Division III Allegheny (2/23) and host Edinboro (2/25).
	District of Columbia: The Firebirds lost to Harford Community College, 4-3, in their only action last week. The game will not count against the team's record overall record. UDC, who went 2-2 during the fall portion of their schedule, travel to Syracuse to take on Le Moyne on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
	Queens: Head coach Somadi Druker and the Knights return to regional play as they welcome the Ravens of Franklin Pierce University to Flushing on Thursday.
	St. Thomas Aquinas: The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Tennis team (4-1) suffered its first defeat of the 2021-22 season, a 4-3 setback to Division I Fairleigh Dickinson University on February 12. The Spartans return to action on February 26 against Manhattanville College (4:30 p.m. at Match Point Tennis Club - Orangeburg, NY).
