BUFFALO, N.Y. - The D'Youville University Women's Volleyball Team dropped two matches on Friday afternoon in the first day of the D'Youville University Tournament.
The Saints (1-5, 0-0 ECC) lost their first match of the day to West Liberty University (5-2, 0-0 MEC) 3-2. D'Youville then went on to lose their second match of the day 3-0 against East Stroudsburg University(2-3,0-0 PSAC).
D'Youville University 2 vs West Liberty University 3 – Game One (16-25, 8-25, 25-19, 28-26, 11-15)
First Set
The Saints got out to an early 7-3 lead with Madeline O'Brien (East Amherst, N.Y.) and
Isabelle Prentice (Bainbridge, Wash. / Bainbridge)
leading the charge on offense. The Hilltoppers managed to even up the game at 8-8 and would hold the lead from there winning the first set 25-16.
Second Set
The second set proved to be the Hilltoppers' best as they jumped out to an early lead to put themselves up 2-0.
Third Set
D'Youville hit their stride in the third set jumping out to an early lead. West Liberty took their first lead of the game at 17-16, but the Saints battled back and with the help of three service aces by
Madison Bradshaw (South Lyon. Mich. South Lyon), the Saints took the third set 25-19.
Fourth Set
The Fourth set was another tight battle between the Saints and Hilltoppers. The lead went back and forth between the two teams until it was tied at 26.
Isabelle Prentice turned it on and brought the Saints to a 28-26 win after back-to-back kills.
Fifth Set
The final set of the match was another tough battle, but the Saints would fall to the Hilltoppers 15-11 in the set and 3-2 in the match.
D'Youville University 0 vs East Stroudsburg University 3 (19-25, 14-25, 21-25)
First Set
The Saints took the early lead in set one, but the Warriors were quick to come back and take the lead. They would hold this lead and take set one from the Saints 25-19.
Second Set
Again, in the second set, the Warriors took the lead first. Offensive weapons
Isabelle Prentice and
Madeline O'Brien tried to get the offense going but would fall in the second set 25-14.
Third Set
The third set was the best of the match for the Saints, but they would ultimately fall to the Warriors 25-21. O'Brien finished with 12 kills in the match while
Isabelle Prentice would collect eight of her own.

The Saints are back at home for day two of the D'Youville Women's Volleyball Tournament. They will face off with the college of Saint Rose at 10:00am followed by Lake Erie College at 2:00pm.
