Silva and Ewen Lead Bentley to 1-0 Win over Daemen

WALTHAM, Mass. – Senior Liliana Silva (North Grafton, Mass./Grafton) scored in the 12th minute and goalkeeper Claire Ewen (Arlington, Mass./Arlington) made a career-high six saves as the Bentley's women's soccer team defeated Daemen College 1-0 on Saturday afternoon.

Silva's second goal of the season, she also scored in the season opener at Wilmington, gave the Falcons an early lead which they held on to the rest of the way.

Ewen made three saves in each half and the defense in front of her came up with several blocked shots.

Silva's goal came after she took a pass from Gabby Vachon (Pocasset, Mass./Austin Prep) in Bentley's attacking end. After receiving the pass she turned towards goal and quickly lofted a shot from about 30 yards out that beat Daemen's keeper for the goal.

Senior Brooke Jones (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury) led Bentley with three shots on goal in 71 minutes of action. While sophomore senior back Jillian Hendriksen (Pembroke, Mass./Pembroke) played all 90 minutes to help the Falcons keep the clean sheet.

Bentley's record goes to 1-1-2 on the season with the win. They now have a nine-day break before the next game, which is the Northeast-10 Conference opener at home against Assumption on Sept. 13 at 3:30 PM.
