UDC Women's Tennis Team Shuts Out Frostburg State in 7-0 Decisive Season Opener Victory
WASHINGTON, DC- The University of the District of Columbia's women's tennis team defeated Frostburg State 7-0, to open the season on the UDC Tennis Courts.
The Firebirds came away with the doubles point after sweeping all three matches, to take the 1-0 lead into singles play.
No.1 singles player Simoné Pärn secured the first singles point for UDC, after defeating her opponent 6-1, 6-1. The winning point came at the No.2 position as Mariona Franco defeated her opponent 6-3, 7-6(1).
In her debut as a Firebird Célia Bastin blanked her opponent at the No.5 position with a clean 6-0, 6-0 sweep.
Next up, UDC (1-0, 0-0 ECC) will head to N.Y. on the 23rd to compete in the ITA East Regional Tournament.
