NEW YORK, N.Y. (October 11, 2008) – Senior Nicole Buchholz (Broadlands, Va./Stone Bridge) hammered out 18 kills on Saturday afternoon to lead the Franklin Pierce University volleyball team to a 3-2 victory over Pace in Northeast-10 Conference play at Pace’s New York City campus. Later in the afternoon, Franklin Pierce was defeated, 3-0, at Adelphi in non-conference play.

Franklin Pierce won the first match of the day against Pace, 23-25, 25-21, 25-19, 25-27, 15-12. Later, the Ravens lost 25-14, 25-23, 25-16 at Adelphi.

Buchholz led two Ravens in double figures with 18 kills against Pace. Sophomore Diana Rutt (Dayton, Nev./Dayton) tallied 13 kills for Franklin Pierce while senior Karissa Hookstadt (Camarillo, Calif./Adolfo Camarillo) posted a double-double with 43 assists and 13 digs. Junior Katie Ristow (Miami, Fla./Miami Killian) and sophomore Chelsie Kohout (Harrison Township, Mich./L’Anse Creuse) led the defense with 19 and 18 digs, respectively.

For Pace, sophomore Sianna Johnson (Long Beach, Calif./Long Beach Polytechnic) led the way with a match-best 19 kills. Freshman Shea Hansen (Mesa, Ariz./Red Mountain) posted 42 assists while sophomore Stephanie Kazmierczak (Buffalo, N.Y./City Honors) led the defense with a match-best 22 digs.

Against Adelphi, senior Emily Schultz (Salem, Wis./Westosha Central) contributed seven kills, four assists and three digs. Junior Megan Feldmeth (South Pasadena, Calif./South Pasadena) chipped in with five kills, two aces, two digs and a block while Hookstadt dished out 16 assists to go with four digs and a kill.

The Ravens (11-13, 3-4 NE-10) return to the court on Tuesday, Oct. 14 when they return home to take on Saint Anselm in a Northeast-10 Conference contest. Match time is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Fieldhouse in Rindge, N.H.
