Women's Tennis Downs Jefferson 6-1

Bronxville, N.Y. - The threat of inclement weather sent the St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Tennis team indoors for competition on Thursday, but it did not spoil the Spartans chances of picking up yet another key East Region victory. STAC ultimately cruised to a 6-1 triumph over visiting Jefferson University at the Maximum Tennis Development Zone.

The Spartans move to 14-3 overall and appear in today's initital NCAA Division II Women's Tennis regional poll. Meanwhile, Jefferson also makes the east rankings, but slips to 16-4.

Ebba Rosberg, Samanta Villegas Robles, Elita Silins and Amaia Balaguer Brau all went 2-0 on the day, winning both their singles and doubles matches against the Rams.

THE ROCKHILL REPORT

"I like the way we played today", said Coach Dan Rockhill. "Our doubles were substantially improved and it was good to see Jem playing well in there with Elita. They are an exciting pair that we really need to play well going forward."

"Jefferson is looking like a tournament team", stated Rockhill. "They made us earn our points today and Coach Patten has done a fantastic job building teams in Philadelphia."

"Ebba and Samy were extremely sharp and I am super happy for Eliza as she served very well and adhered to a solid game plan", remarked Rockhill.
