Springfield, Mass.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team wrapped up a tough weekend in Springfield, Massachusetts against some stiff competition at the International Volleyball Hall of Fame Clash hosted by American International College on Saturday afternoon by falling in a pair of straight sets matches to Daemen, (23-25, 20-25, 17-25) and Bentley (15-25, 22-25, 15-25). With the two defeats, the Purple Knights are now 1-8 overall this season.
Versus former East Coast Conference foe, Daemen, sophomore Paola Hernandez (Bayamon, P.R.) had a team-high nine kills, and she was followed by freshman Lucia Tomiello (Caltrano, Italy) with eight.
Sophomore setter Jaden Drollinger (Queens Creek, Az.) had 17 assists in Saturday's opener, and freshman Isabella Carmona-Bailey (McKinney, Texas) had nine digs to lead UB.
In Saturday's finale versus Bentley, freshman Marissa Mullins (Circleville. Ohio) had a team-best nine kills; followed by Hernandez with seven.
Jaden Drollinger finished with 23 assists versus the Falcons, and Isabella Carmona-Bailey wrapped up the day with double-digits digs with 12.
Up next, the UB women's volleyball team will look to snap a five-match losing skid on Tuesday night when the Purple Knights return to conference play at Caldwell University in New Jersey. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
