Firebirds Concede to Lions in ECC Match Up

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y.- The University of the District of Columbia's men's lacrosse team fell to Molloy University 4-30, Saturday afternoon at the RVC Sports Complex. The Firebirds fell to 0-5 in conference play, while the Lions improved to 4-1.

Matthew Miller scored his first collegiate goal, while dishing out an assist. Dylan Donaldson scored a team high two goals and Maxwell Hansberry rounded out scoring for the Firebirds with a goal of his own. Najee Wilson made a game-high 20 saves and Carnell Lofton Jr. picked up a game-high 11 ground balls.

UDC scored a goal in each quater with Donaldson striking early in the first quater, scoring the third goal of the game. Miller scored the Firebirds second goal finishing a feed from Julian Schemm with 5:15 to go until half-time.

Maxwell Hansberry registered his fifth goal of the season late in the third, with the assist being credited to Lofton Jr. Donaldson scored the first goal of the fourth quater, which turned out to be UDC's final goal of the game.

The Firebirds won 21 face-offs compared to the Lions 16, but Molloy forced 20 turnovers and outshot UDC 74-19.

Up Next, UDC (0-9, 0-5 ECC) will host St Thomas Aquinas at the Georgetown Day School next Saturday (29th) in their final game of the season.
