Caldwell Takes Two From STAC

Caldwell, N.J. - Delaney Ridgell's run-scoring in the bottom of the eighth inning gave Caldwell University a 5-4 win and helped the Cougars sweep visiting St. Thomas Aquinas College in a non-conference softball doubleheader today. Caldwell won the second game, 8-4.

Ridgell's single down the left field line culminated Caldwell's comeback rally that erased a 3-0 deficit. The two wins increased Caldwell's record to 23-10 while STAC fell to 16-13.

In the first game, Abbie Landrum pitched well for STAC and helped her own cause with two RBI doubles. Freshman teammate DeAnna DeCaro added a two-run double.

In the second game, Caldwell's Courtney Grundhauser hit for the cycle to lead her team. She homered in the second inning and tripled in the sixth inning to compete the rare feat. For STAC, DeCaro stroked another two-run double.

STAC next visits Dominican University on Sunday (April 16) in a twinbill that starts at 2 pm at South Orangetown Little League complex.
