Mangeon Goes Undefeated in Firebirds Loss to Reigning ECC Champions

SPARKHILL, N.Y.- The University of the District of Columbia's men's tennis team fell to St Thomas Aquinas College 1-6, Friday afternoon at the Riley Family Tennis Courts. The Firebirds fell to 1-3 in conference play, while the Spartans improved to 2-0.

Louis Mangeon went 2-0 on the day teaming up with Mauricio Corty to win at No.1 doubles before going on to win at No.1 singles. The Firebirds loss the doubles point to the Spartans falling at No.2 and 3.

Mangeon forced a three set match up against last season's ECC player of the Year Odysseas Papaioannou at the No.1 spot. After dropping the first set 4-6, he fought back to take the seond set 6-2, forcing a tiebreaker. He would walk away victorious as he battled to a decisive 6-3 third set victory.

Juan Estevez Hernandez was also involved in a three set affair at the No.4 spot to end the day. He took the first set 7-5, but eventually fell 4-6, 4-6 to his opponent.

Up Next, UDC (4-10, 1-3 ECC) is back at home next Friday (April 7th) welcoming Daemen to the UDC Tennis Courts. First match is slated to begin at 11:00am.
