Roberts Wesleyan Women's Team and Two Individuals Qualify for NCAA Cross Country Championship

Amherst, N.Y. - The Roberts Wesleyan women's cross country teams along with Talya Williams of LIU Post and Christopher Sims of Roberts Wesleyan qualified for the NCAA Division II National Championship meet with their performances at the NCAA East Regional on Saturday.

Roberts Wesleyan's women are back in the National Championship meet for the fourth consecutive season after a third place finish in the East Regional. Led by Michaela Bierly, who finished 16th in a time of 23:50.5, Roberts placed five runners in the top 27 to finish with 110 points, well off the pace of Assumption (45) and Stonehill (46), but still good enough for third place and the NCAA Championship berth.

Also qualifying in the women's race was three-time ECC Runner of the Year, Talya Williams. Williams finished in fourth place at the regional in a time of 23:04.6.  This is now the third time in her career she has qualified for the NCAA National Championship meet.

On the men's side, Roberts Wesleyan's men's team just missed qualifying with a six point deficit behind No. 3 Merrimack, but Christopher Sims will still be heading to the National Championship after a sixth place finish in 33:29.4.

Both Williams and Sims qualified as top-three runners not affiliated with a team that qualified for the National Championship.

The NCAA Division II Championship race will take place on November 18 in Evansville, Ind.
