Louisville, Ky. - The Roberts Wesleyan women's
cross country team finished in the top-10 of the NCAA Division II
National Championship race, coming in with a ninth place finish.
The Roberts Wesleyan men's team also competed in the NCAA
Championship race, finishing in 28th place.
In their first season eligible as NCAA Division II members, the
Roberts Wesleyan women's team finished ninth nationally after
already clinching the East Coast Conference and NCAA Division II
East Region titles. The Redhawks were led by Rachel Prutsman, who
finished in 19th place, in the NCAA National Championship race.
Prutsman ran a time of 21:43.40 over the 5.78k race. Prutsman earns
All-America honors with the performance (top-40 finishers are named
All-Americans).
In addition to Prutsman, Roberts had five top-100 finishers in all,
to finish with a team score of 295.
In the men's race, Roberts was led by Kevin Brown with a 92nd place
showing. Brown finished the 9.65k race in a time of 29:55.7. The
Redhawks finished with a team total of 753 points to finish 28th in
the 32 team meet.
ECC Runner and Rookie of the Year, Talya Williams, as well as
Michael Scott of LIU Post also competed in the National
Championship races. Williams finished in 170th place in a time of
23:37.4 in the women's race, while Scott crossed the line in 193rd
place after covering the course in 33:53.3 in the men's race.
