New Orleans - Nine East Coast Conference cross
country student-athletes have been named to the USTFCCCA 2010
Division II All-Academic Cross Country teams. Six men and three
women make up the nine student-athletes.
Four members of the ECC men’s champion, C.W. Post earned the
distinction. The Pioneers on the team were Christian Altamura,
Raymond Coyle, Vince Giambanco, and Joseph Lasher. Nick Filippazzo,
the 2010 ECC Men’s Cross Country Rookie of the Year from
Molloy, and Terrence McElhatton of Dowling round out the selections
on the men’s side.
All three recipients on the USTFCCCA 2010 Division II All-Academic
Women’s Cross Country team come from ECC Champion, St. Thomas
Aquinas. Sarah Callagy, the 2010 ECC Women’s Cross Country
Runner of the Year, and Keeley Bateman, the 2010 ECC Women’s
Cross Country Rookie of the Year, are joined by teammate Julia Karl
on the squad.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team in
Division II, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative
grade point average of 3.25 or greater through the most-recent
semester, completed at least 12 credit hours in the semester of
cross country competition, and placed in the top 50 percent at the
most recent NCAA National Championships or in the top 30 percent at
the NCAA Regional Championships.
