NYIT’s Toek Named Women’s Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year

Central Islip, NY- New York Institute of Technology Senior Jackline Toek has been named the 2009 ECC Women's Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year. 

After being the first runner in school history to qualify for the NCAA Division II National Championship meet in 2008, Toek continued to shine in 2009.  She placed second in the ECC Championships with a time of 19:29.50 to help lead her team to a first place tie for the ECC title.  Toek posted a 22:27.3 at the Northeast Regional for a fourth place finish and advanced to the National Championship meet for the second consecutive year.  At the Championships, Toek finished in 88th place with a time of 22:52.2.  This year, she garnered First-Team All Conference honors and currently holds a 3.52 GPA as a Business Administration Major. 

East Coast Conference Scholar-Athlete of Year Awards are nominated by their institution and voted upon by the Faculty Athletic Representatives from each ECC institution.
