Adelphi’s Anene and NYIT’s Koiyet Qualify for NCAA Nationals

Boston, MA - Ify Anene of Adelphi University claimed a third place finish with a time of 22:32.5 at the NCAA East Regional on Sunday, November 9 at Franklin Park to secure a trip to the National Championship for the second straight year.  On the men's side, Nicholas Koiyet of NYIT qualified for the Nationals as he crossed the finish line in 31:18.3 to finish third.

The Adelphi University women's team captured third place finishing with 71 points.  Anene and teammate Danielle Lyons, (23:42.8) who finished 11th, were named to the All-East Region team.  Coming in 8th individually, Ryan Pezzulo led the men's team to a fourth place finish and garnered All-Region honors.

Kioyet helped the Bears to a ninth place finish while earning a spot on the All-Region Team.  Fellow rookie Jackline Toek (22:43.9) was the fifth woman to cross the finish line and claimed All-Region honors as well.

Nicole Wissler of C.W. Post rounded out the ECC All-Region recipients as she finished 11th with a time of 23:37.2.
