Lyons Selected 2008 Women’s Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year

Central Islip, NY - Sophomore Danielle Lyons (South Glastonbury, CT) from Adelphi University has been named the 2008 East Coast Conference Women's Cross Country Scholar-Athletes of the Year.

Lyons placed 12th at the NCAA Division II East Regional, earning NCAA Division II All-East Region honors.  She crossed the finish line with a time of 21:57 at the ECC Championship meet to place 9th overall and earn a spot on the All-Conference Second Team.  Overall this season, Lyons posted four top-13 finishes and two top-10's and earned USTFCCCA Division II All-Academic honors. Lyons is majoring in nursing and currently boasts a 3.978 grade point average.

East Coast Conference Scholar-Athlete of Year recipients are nominated by their institution and voted on by the Faculty Athletic Representatives from each ECC institution.
