ECC Women's Volleyball Championship Tiebreakers

For purposes of seeding the conference championship, a tie will be broken in the following manner:

a. If two teams are tied, head to head breaks the tie.

b. If three or more teams are tied for a place in the standings, the overall record of the tied teams against each other (i.e. a "mini-conference”) shall be used as the tiebreaker. The team with the best record shall be the higher seed. If the other teams are still tied, head to head will be used to break the tie.

c. If ties still exist amongst two or more teams, the teams will be compared according to the number of individual games (W-L based upon winning percentage) played amongst the teams.

d. If ties still exist, each team’s record against higher seeded teams (in descending order) will be compared. If a tie still exists, games against higher seeded teams (in descending order) will be used.

e. If (b), (c) or (d) is utilized to break a tie between three or more teams, the tiebreaking procedure should start again from (a) on down if teams still remain tied after a separation of the original tie occurs.

f. If a tie still exists, a coin toss will determine standings for seeding purposes for the conference playoffs
