UB Advances to ECC Final With 3-1 Victory Over Daemen

Rockville Centre, N.Y. - For the first time since 2015, the University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team will be making an appearance in the East Coast Conference Championship Tournament Final, as the second-seeded Purple Knights defeated the third-seeded Daemen College Wildcats in four sets, 19-25, 25-19, 25-20, 28-26. 

UB will face top-seeded and host Molloy College at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday in the ECC Final with an automatic bid to the 2019 NCAA Division II National Championship Tournament on the line.  With the win, the Purple Knights, who came from being down, 19-14, in the fourth set plus staved off three set points to close out the match, are now 24-6.  Daemen wraps up its season at 16-12.

Sophomore Amanda Keller (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) was simply outstanding at the net all night long for the winners slamming 12 kills on 28 swings with no errors (.429 hitting percentage) and recording five blocks.

Senior Morgan Knight (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) also reached double-digit kills with 11 for the Purple Knights.

Junior Klein Johnson (San Antonio, Texas) had 20 assists for Bridgeport, and sophomore Carly Killorin (Centennial, Colo.) had 17 helpers and five service aces.

Senior Amanda Hennemann (Nova Petropolis, Brazil) notched a team-best 21 digs on the night and had seven kills.

Sam Logan led three Daemen players in double-figure kills with 15.
