DesLauriers Named AVCA National Coach of the Year; NYIT's Moderova and Fowler Earn All-America Status

Lexington, Ky. - After leading Molloy to a historic season, Kevin DesLauriers has been named the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division II National Coach of the Year. In addition, NYIT standouts Karolina Moderova and Allison Fowler have earned AVCA All-America Honorable Mention status for the second straight year.

In his first year leading the program, DesLauriers led the Lions to previously unreached heights. After finishing with a 6-24 record in 2016, Molloy finished with a 26-6 record under DesLauriers guidance. The win total was a school record and also marked the first winning season for the program since  1998. DesLauriers also led Molloy to their first-ever ECC regular season and postseason championships and the first NCAA Championship appearance in school history. In addition to the National Coach of the Year honor, DesLauriers was also named the AVCA East Region Coach of the Year and earned the second ECC Coach of the Year honor of his career (also won with former ECC member, Dowling, in 2014).

Moderova, an ECC First Team All-Conference pick and the AVCA East Region Player of the Year, earned a spot on the All-America Honorable Mention list after finishing the season with 506 kills, a .253 hitting percentage, and 504 digs. Her kill total was second in the ECC and 13th in all of Division II.

Fowler, a three-time ECC Setter of the Year, earns the All-America Honorable Mention accolade after tallying 1,370 assists and 10.87 assists per set on the year. Like Moderova, her assist total was second in the ECC and 13th nationally.
