Krstonosic Named DIICCA East Region Player of the Year; Six Selected as All-Region

West Haven, Conn. – University of Bridgeport’s junior outside hitter Katarina Krstonosic was named the East Region Player of the Year, headlining the 2015 NCAA Division II Conference Commissioner’s Association (CCA) All-East Region Volleyball Team.

The top seed in the upcoming East Region Championship, Adelphi landed four student-athletes on the All-Region First Team, while Bridgeport and NYIT also earned multiple selections across the first and second teams.

Krstonosic headlines a seven-member first team with Adelphi’s Mandy Stanislovaitis and NYIT’s Karolina Moderova joining her to round out the outside hitting corps. A pair of middle hitter/blockers earned spots on the first team with Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Player of the Year Skylar German (Post) and Adelphi’s Shelby Stoner representing the middles. The final two spots on the first team are filled by a pair of Northeast-10 Conference major award winners with NE-10 Libero/Defensive Specialist of the Year Sierra Crook and NE-10 Player of the Year Meghan Manierski rounding out the squad. Both Crook and Manierski make up the final two Adelphi Panthers on the first team with Crook in the libero/defensive specialist position and Manierski taking the setter role.

The second team selections included outside hitters Katrina Janssen (Caldwell), Chelsea Hughes (Philadelphia) and Sara Rosa (Bridgeport), middle hitters/blockers Frida Randen (Bridgeport), Kate Brock (NYIT) and Kelsie Blue (Georgian Court). Rounding out the second team are libero/defensive specialist Regina Trabosh (Chestnut Hill) and setter Allison Fowler (MYIT).

Sports information directors from NCAA Division II East Region schools and conferences selected the two CCA All-Region teams. The process concludes with All-American selections announced in December. This is the first year the Division II Conference Commissioner’s Association has sponsored the NCAA Division II Volleyball All-Region and All-American teams.

The Division II CCCA encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education. The CCA is a key communications link among the conferences as they discuss views, policies and regulations that impact Division II intercollegiate athletics and works closely with the NCAA as a communications channel to NCAA Division II member colleges and universities.
