Lexington, Ky. - Twelve volleyball student-athletes from the East Coast Conference have been named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-East Region Team. In addition, Dowling freshman, Taylor Takeda, has been named the East Region Freshman of the Year.
Takeda, a libero, is currently second in the ECC with 491 digs on the season and a 4.42 digs per set average on the season. She also contributed 23 service aces and 62 assists on the season for the Golden Lions.
Takeda was joined by 11 other players from the ECC on the All-Region squad. Among the other honorees were ECC Player of the Year, Katarina Krstonosic of Bridgeport, and ECC Setter of the Year, Allison Fowler of NYIT.
Rounding out the All-Region selections from the ECC are Kate Brock and Karolina Moderova of NYIT, Frida Randen of Bridgeport, and Weronika Weizik of Dowling.
Kayla Dillman, Dragan Jelovac, and Kataryna Klocek of Dowling, Sarah Rosa of Bridgeport, and Danielle Valenza of LIU Post were also All-Region Honorable Mention selections.
