West Haven, Conn. – University of Bridgeport graduate student outside hitter and setter Biljana Savic was named the Player of the Year to headline the 2014 Daktronics NCAA Division II Volleyball All-Region Team.
The top seed in the upcoming East Region Championship, Bridgeport landed three student-athletes on the All-Region Teams, while New Haven, Stonehill and Dowling also earned multiple selections.
Savic, the East Coast Conference Player of the Year, is joined by six other student-athletes on the All-East Region First Team. The Northeast-10 Conference Player and Setter of the Year, Emily Iverson (Stonehill) was the first team setter, while Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Player of the Year Skylar German (Post) landed as a first team middle hitter/blocker. A two-time first team selection, Kaitlyn DeStefano joins German as a middle hitter/blocker on the ledger. Dowling’s Jessica Kalbfleisch and Domincan’s McKenzie John both joined Savic at the outside hitter position on the first team. Caldwell’s Jaclyn Del Cid was recognized as the region’s top libero/defensive specialist.
The second team selections included Kadi McCoy (Goldey Beacom), Stephanie Sheehan (Merrimack), Sara Rosa (Bridgeport), Delia Phillips (Stonehill) and Maryellen Devic (Saint Rose) at the outside hitter position. The second team middle hitter/blockers are New Haven’s Kristy Atufunwa and Bridgeport’s Larissa Oliveira. Rounding out the second team are libero/defensive specialists Regina Trabosh (Chestnut Hill) and Kea-Marie Olaso (New Haven), and setter Kayla Dillman (Dowling).

teams. The process concludes with All-American selections announced
in December. This is the ninth year Daktronics, Inc. has sponsored
the NCAA Division II Volleyball All-Region and All-American teams.
