West Haven, Conn. - Eight volleyball
student-athletes from the East Coast Conference were named to the
Daktronics NCAA Division II All-East Region team, released on
Tuesday afternoon. Three earned First Team selections, while five
were named to the Second Team.
Highlighting the First Team selections was ECC Player of the Year,
Biljana Savic of the University of Bridgeport. Savic was also
joined by teammate, Ying Shen, and NYIT's Shelby Cable as First
Team honorees.
ECC members on the Second Team included ECC Libero of the Year,
Rachel Ringor, and ECC Rookie of the Year, Shelby McCool, both of
LIU Post, as well as Sarah Rosa and Larissa Oliveira of Bridgeport,
and Savannah Donarski of NYIT.
Bridgeport, ECC Champion and top seed in the upcoming NCAA East
Regional Tournament, led the region with four selections.
NYIT and LIU Post tied Northeast 10 Champion, New Haven, with two
selections each.
Sports information directors from NCAA Division II East Region
schools and conferences selected the two Daktronics All-Region
teams. The process concludes with All-American selections announced
on Wednesday, Dec. 11. This is the eighth year Daktronics, Inc. has
sponsored the NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball All-Region and
