Cable, Shen, and Shepard Named AVCA Honorable Mention All-Americans

Lexington, Ky. – ECC volleyball standouts Shelby Cable (NYIT), Ying Shen (Bridgeport), and Bethany Shepard (Dowling) have been named Honorable Mention All-Americans by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.

Cable, a junior outside hitter, was named to the ECC All-Conference First Team for the third consecutive season after leading the Bears with 433 kills.

Shen had an outstanding first season for the Purple Knights. She led the conference in hitting percentage (.318) and her team in kills per set (3.51) in helping lead Bridgeport to an ECC title and a spot in the NCAA Division II East Region Final.

Shepard finished out her career at Dowling as the ECC Player of the Year after leading the conference with 583 kills, more than 140 more than the runner up, and 4.48 kills per set.

This marks the second straight season both Cable and Shepard have been named Honorable Mention All-Americans.
