Central Islip, N.Y. – Seven East Coast
Conference volleyball student-athletes have been named to the
American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Region Team.
ECC Champion, Bridgeport, and NYIT both had three selections to
finish second behind Northeast 10 Champion, New Haven. Sophomore
middle blocker Larissa Oliveira and sophomore outside hitters
Biljana Savic and Ying Shen were Bridgeport’s honorees. This
marks the second straight year Oliveira and Savic were named
All-Region.
NYIT’s trio on the All-Region squad includes junior outside
hitters Shelby Cable and Savannah Donarski, and junior right side
Katarina Sretenovic. Cable earns the All-Region distinction for the
third straight year, while Donarski and Sretenovic earn their first
spot on the All-East team.
ECC Player of the Year, Bethany Shepard from Dowling College, wraps
up the ECC’s representation on the All-Region team. Shepard,
who leads the ECC in kills and ranks seventh nationally in kills
per set, earns the third All-Region selection of her career.
Bridgeport’s Sabrina Simas was the lone player from the
conference named Honorable Mention.
