Dowling's Potpara Named Daktronics East Region Player of the Year

New Haven, Conn. - Dowling College’s Maja Potpara has been named the Daktronics NCAA Division II Volleyball East Region Player of the Year which was announced on Wednesday. Voted on by the College Sports Information Director's of American (CoSIDA), Daktronics recognizes All-Region and All-American teams in nearly all Division II sports throughout the athletic year.

Potpara joins six others on the All-Region First Team. Pace’s Elyse Rowland was named the First Team libero, while Potpara earned First Team setter honors. Middle’s Jovana Pavlovic from Queens (N.Y.) and Sara Beres of Southern Connecticut St. were named middle hitters for the First Team. Three outside hitters rounded off the First Team honorees, Keidy Candelaria of New Haven, Biljana Savic of Bridgeport and Bethany Shepard of Dowling.

All-Region First Team honorees are now eligible for the Daktronics All-American teams which will be announced prior to the start of the Elite Eight National Championship tournament.
