Four Earn AVCA All-America Honors

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) is has to announced the 30th annual AVCA All-America teams for NCAA Division II women's volleyball.  Dowling’s Maja Potpara was named to the All-America Third Team while teammate Patrycja Klekotka and Bridgeport’s Agatha Baliddawa-Mukisa and Terry Masava earned Honorable Mention nods.

Potpara, a 6-0 setter for Dowling College, is a junior from Pljevlja, Montenegro. The three-time ECC Player of the Year helped lead the Golden Lions to the 2010 NCAA Division II East Regional championship and berth in the national quarterfinals with a 30-1 record. Potpara ranked among the conference leaders in nearly every statistical category and also ranked among the top-ten nationally in aces per set. She is receiving AVCA All-America honors for the second time.

Klekotka, who leads the nation in aces per set with a .98, earned her fourth straight appearance on the AVCA All-East Region team this year. Klekotka also ranks among the nations best in hitting percentage. Her efforts this season has earned her a spot on the Daktronics All-Region and ECC All-Conference First teams.

Masava led the Purple Knights to a 25-5 overall record this season and their second straight appearance in the NCAA East Region Finals.  She averaged 4.11 kills per set this season while averaging 2.82 digs.

Baliddawa-Mukisa compiled an impressive .419 hitting percentange this season and averaged 3.74 kills per game.  Defensively, she led the Purple Knights with .82 blocks per game and was named to the All-Conference First Team.

The 2010 All-America selections were made by the AVCA Division II All-America Committee: Laurie Lokash, Slippery Rock University, chairperson; Mario Andaya, Central Washington University; Christy Benner, Wheeling Jesuit University; Jeff Boyland, University of Central Oklahoma;  Shelton Collier, Wingate University; Debbie Hendricks, Metropolitan State College; ; Stephanie Radecki, University of North Alabama; Deanne Scanlon, Grand Valley State University and Gail Wasmus, New York Institute of Technology.
