WEST HAVEN, Conn. - Seven ECC volleyball
student-athletes have been named to the Daktronics, Inc. All-East
Region Teams, with Dowling College setter and right side hitter
Maja Potpara, selected as the East Region Player of the Year.
Potpara tops a list of 14 student-athletes named to the 2010
Daktronics, Inc. NCAA Division II All-East Region teams which are
voted on by the sports information directors of Division II
institutions in the East Region (Northeast-10, East Coast and
Central Atlantic Collegiate Conferences).
The three-time East Coast Conference Player of the Year, Potpara,
has led the Golden Lions to their second-straight NCAA Division II
Elite Eight appearance. This season she’s posted a .371
hitting percentage and 7.33 assists per set, while guiding Dowling
to a 30-1 overall record, including the 2010 ECC Championship.
Other ECC representatives include Patrycja Klekotka (Dowling),
Monika Kasperek-Szulc (Dowling), Terry Masava (Bridgeport), Agatha
Baliddawa-Mukisa (Bridgeport), Shelby Cable (NYIT), and Lisa
Peacock (NYIT).
In total, eight institutions are represented on the 2010
Daktronics, Inc. East Region Volleyball First and Second Teams. The
University of Bridgeport had two First Team honorees, while the
University of New Haven and Merrimack were also represented on the
First Team.
