Dowling's Potpara Named AVCA National Player of the Week

Lexington, KY - Maja Potpara, a sophomore setter/opposite for DowlingCollege, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division II National Player of the Week after guiding her team to 3-0 record at their own Dowling Invitational.

Potpara kicked-off the tournament with a double-double, tallying 18 assists and 15 kills, to go along with nine digs, two aces and two blocks in a four-set win over Lock Haven. In the Golden Lions' next match, a 3-1 victory over St. Mary's (Texas), she dished out 20 assists, in addition to racking up 11 kills, six digs, six aces and two blocks. In Dowling's final match of the weekend, Potpara came away with yet another double-double, recording 27 assists, 15 kills, nine digs and an ace. For the week, Potpara averaged 5.42 assists, 3.42 kills, 2.00 digs and 4.46 points per set. This marks the first time an athlete from Dowling has earned Sports Imports/AVCA Division II Player of the Week honors. The Golden Lions are coached by Alex Koszalka.
