Oakdale, NY- Golden Lions’ rookie setter Erin Przybylowicz
(Riddley Park, NY) was named the AVCA Northeast Region Freshman of
the Year in addition to garnishing All-Region honors as released on
November 20. ECC First Teamers Justyna Michon (Katowice, Poland)
and Patrycja Klekotka (Siedlce, Poland) join Przybylowicz on the
All-Region team while junior libero Jessica Gall (Meadow Vista, CA)
garnished Honorable Mention honors.
Przybylowicz helped to drive the Golden Lions’ offensive this
season as she currently averages 11.39 assists per game. So far
this season she has a total of 1675 assists and has pitched in with
95 kills while holding the team’s third highest spot in both
aces (65) and digs (271).
Michon and Klekotka are the Golden Lions’ strongest hitters
as they average 4.25 and 3.01 kills per game respectively. Klekotka
also dominates the service line as she has tallied 118 aces on the
season, averaging .94 per game.
Rounding out the All-Region Honors, Gall anchors the defense,
averaging 5.32 digs per game.

While returning only one starter to this year's squad, Head Coach
Alex Koszalka has led the Golden Lions' to a 33-7 regular season
record and their sixth straight NCAA berth to garner Region Coach
of the Year honors.
Alex Koszalka’s eighth season at the helm of the Dowling College (Oakdale, N.Y.) Golden Lions has been one of his most successful to date. After losing the first six matches of the season, and seven of their first nine, Dowling is now riding a 37-match win streak leading into their third consecutive appearance in the national quarterfinals of the NCAA Division II Volleyball Championship.
Undefeated champions of the East Coast Conference, Dowling has been rated the No. 1 team in the Northeast Region of Division II throughout the season. Koszalka won career match number 200 during the season, and the team’s 39 wins is the most in his tenure with the Golden Lions. Koszalka now holds an overall record of 234-83 as Dowling head coach.
This is Koszalka’s second AVCA Division II Northeast Region Coach of the Year honor, also taking home the award in 2005.
