Top-Seeded Queens Rolls Past Molloy, Advances to ECC Final

Flushing, N.Y. – The Queens College women's tennis team marched into its eighth consecutive East Coast Conference Championship with a 4-0 semi-final victory on Friday (Oct. 25) over Molloy at the QC Tennis Center.

The Knights advance to the ECC Championship, which will be played on Saturday (Oct. 26) at 12 p.m. in Flushing.

Queens, which was the No. 1 seed going into the tournament after a 5-0 record in conference competition, took care of the fourth-seeded Lions by winning the second- and third-tandem of doubles respectively. Lovisa Engstrand and Louisa Brunetti were 6-2 victors at No. 2 doubles over Kailey Chin and Montaine Le Goupil-Maier to seal up the doubles point. This came immediately after a 6-1 victory at third-doubles by Aleksandra Caricic and Anica Knezevic over Samantha Bloecker and Briana Gonzalez.

In singles play, the Knights continued their dominance as Luisa Auffarth won a 6-0, 6-1 match at the top-flight over Molloy's Sarah Moehrlein. At virtually the same time, Gabriela Sciarotta took a 6-0, 6-0 win at fourth-singles against Gonzalez. Ruth Artaza Martin then clinched the match at No. 5 singles with a 6-1, 6-0 triumph over Chin.​
