Flushing, N.Y. - The NYIT women's tennis team is headed back to the finals aiming for a seventh straight East Coast Conference title.
Ivana Andric won the deciding match in three sets and the second-seeded Bears defeated third-seeded District of Columbia, 4-3, in a semifinal on Saturday at Queens College.
NYIT advances to face top-seeded Queens in Sunday's noon final.
Andric defeated Joann Skrzypczynska, 6-0, 5-7, 6-4, in the winner-take-all match at third singles with the teams tied at 3.
NYIT had defeated UDC, 6-1, during the regular season a week earlier.
Andric is no stranger to producing huge victories in winner-take-all matches. That includes defeating Queens' Laura Ortega Jover at third singles on Oct. 28, 2017, as NYIT defeated the top-seeded Knights, 5-4, to earn a sixth straight ECC title.
On Saturday, the Bears earned the doubles point, then got singles wins from Diana Baumgartnere and Cosima Hoch in addition to Andric's victory.
