West Babylon, N.Y. - In a vote by the conference's coaches, NYIT freshman, Barbara Quagliardi (Istanbul, Turkey), has been named the 2018 East Coast Conference Women's Tennis Player and Rookie of the Year.
Quagliardi has had an impressive freshman campaign. She boasts a 10-1 record in dual matches heading up the Bears’ line-up, with a 5-0 record in conference play. Guagliardi claimed the ITA East Region titles in both singles and doubles action this fall, first teaming up with fellow first-teamer Diana Baumgartnere to defeat Goldy-Beacom and clinch the doubles title then downing Robert Wesleyan’s Nathabi Mogopodi, to claim the East Region Singles title.
Queens College head coach, Alan Nagel was once again tabbed the league’s Women’s Tennis Coach of the Year, the thirteenth such honor in his 40 year career. Nagel guided the Knights to a perfect 9-0 record (7-0 ECC) to earn Queens' second straight ECC Regular Season Championship.
