NYIT's Dimmer and Andric Earn ECC Women's Tennis All-Conference Top Honors

West Babylon, N.Y. - For the second year in a row, Lena Dimmer (Wallendorf-Pont, Luxembourg) of NYIT headlines the East Coast Conference Women's Tennis All-Conference selections as the league's Player of the Year.  Dimmer's teammate, Ivana Andric (Griesheim, Germany), was selected as the league's Rookie of the Year.

Dimmer enters postseason play with a 13-3 singles and 15-2 doubles record on the season. The highlight of Dimmer's season was advancing to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Oracle Cup National Championship after capturing the East Region Championship in singles and in doubles with partner, Alessia Rossetti. Dimmer advanced to the semifinals of the Oracle Cup in singles play and fell in the National Championship match with Rossetti in doubles. Dimmer was just as good in conference play, finishing with a 5-1 record in singles and a 6-1 mark in doubles, with the majority of the matches at the No. 1 position.

Andric was nearly as dominant as Dimmer, compiling a 12-2 singles and 8-2 doubles record to date. Andric had a successful run in the ITA East Region Championship as well, advancing to the final in singles before losing to Dimmer. In ECC matches, she was nearly unbeatable with identical 6-1 records in singles and doubles. Her doubles wins all came at the No. 1 position, while her singles victories were split between the No. 2 and No. 3 flights.

Queens head coach, Alan Nagel also repeats as the ECC Women’s Tennis Coach of the Year, the twelfth such honor in his 39 year career. Nagel guided the Knights to a perfect 9-0 record (7-0 ECC) to earn Queens' first ECC Regular Season Championship since the 2012 season.
