Rossetti and Arthur Earn Women's Tennis All-Conference Top Honors

Central Islip, N.Y. - In a vote by the conference's coaches, NYIT junior, Alessia Rossetti (Minusio, Switerland) has been named the ECC Women’s Tennis Player of Year. LIU Post freshman standout, Shanice Arthur (Brookville, N.Y.), was selected as the league's Rookie of the Year.

Rossetti has been dominant in 2015 for the Bears, posting a regular season record of 14-2 in singles and 14-1 in doubles at the No. 1 position. In ECC play, she finished 6-1 in singles play with her only loss coming by retirement after an injury. She also had an unblemished mark of 6-0 in doubles in ECC matches. Rossetti also excelled in tournament play, winning the USTA/ITA East Region "A" Championship in both singles and doubles.

Arthur was named the league's top newcomer after compiling a mark of 8-2 in singles and 7-3 in doubles this fall. The four-time ECC Rookie of the Week finished at 6-1 in singles and 5-2 in doubles during ECC play, as well. Making her debut season all the more impressive is a 6-1 record at No. 1 singles, which includes a perfect 4-0 mark in ECC matches.

The conference's coaches also picked NYIT head coach, Jason Pasion, as the ECC Women’s Tennis Coach of the Year. In his second year at the helm, Pasion led his team to an unbeaten 7-0 mark in conference play to earn the league's Regular Season Championship. NYIT now holds an unblemished, 15-0, mark in ECC play in Pasion's two seasons.
