Flushing, N.Y. - The Queens College Knights defeated Molloy by a score of 5-0 in the second semifinal match-up of the ECC Women's Tennis Championship. The win moves Queens to the final tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. where they will take on the New York Institute of Technology Bears.
Queens got off to a 3-0 lead after sweeping the doubles matches. Erika Goldsmith and Jennifer Fridman won the first singles by an 8-4 score, Andrea Samson and Francesa Fanchin took home second singles with an 8-2 score, and Anna Rodionova and Daniela Celi closed out the doubles sweep by a tally of 8-0.
After Rodionova took out Danielle Byrnes 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5, the Knights clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-0 win by Daniela Celi over Megan Lawless at the No. 6 singles spot.
The victory sent Queens to the ECC finals with a chance to win their third conference title in four years.
