D'Youville Names Pearson Head Women's Soccer Coach

Buffalo, N.Y. – Director of Athletics Ona Halladay and the D'Youville women's soccer program have announced the hiring of Abby Pearson as the next head coach of the Saints.

Pearson was most recently the associate head coach at St. Bonaventure University and had been with the Bonnies since 2017. While with the Bonnies, Pearson created, developed, and tailored training sessions for the team and goalkeepers and managed scholarships, scheduling, and travel.

I am very excited to join the D'Youville women's soccer family and Saints community! I want to thank Ona Halladay, Rebecca Capinera, and all those involved with the search committee for providing me with this opportunity," said Pearson.

"My objective is to cultivate an environment which not only lays the foundation for this program to find success in Division II but also challenges these young women to become the best version of themselves both on and off the field. I am grateful for this next step and ready for the challenge."

As a player, Pearson played professionally for the Dayton Dutch Lions of the USL W-League and won a conference title in 2013. Pearson also played semi-professionally for the Cincinnati Sirens of the WPSL and PASL from 2015-19—won the PASL title in 2019.

Collegiately, the Xenia, Ohio product played at Urbana University (Ohio) and was a First Team All-GMAC and All-Ohio performer and Second Team All-Region. Statistically, Pearson graduated second in career assists and top ten in career goals for the Blue Knights.

D'Youville is coming off its first season as a new Division II member of the East Coast Conference. The Saints made the AMCC semifinals back in 2019, their final year of competition at the Division III level.
