Bridgeport's Doyle Named United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II National Player Of The Year

Kansas City, Mo. - University of Bridgeport women's soccer standout, Maegen Doyle (Harwich, England), has been named the 2018 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II National Player of the Year. 

Thursday's announcement caps off a dream season for the junior forward who helped her team to the 2018 NCAA Division II National Championship in Pittsburgh, Pa. on Saturday, December 1 with a 1-0 win over Grand Valley State University.

This season, Maegen set the University of Bridgeport single season school record for goals with 28 and points with 59.  Those 28 goals placed her number two in the country in total goals scored, and she finished the season tied for number one in the nation in game-winning goals with 13.  From September 15 through November 29, Doyle scored goals in a total of 18 consecutive matches in which she played.

The 2018 East Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Year, she has been recognized with First Team All-America honors by United Soccer Coaches and the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA); plus Maegen was named D2CAA East Region Player of the Year.

A standout both on the pitch and in the classroom, Doyle also earned a spot on the 2018 National NCAA Division II Google Cloud Women's Soccer Academic All-America Team selected by CoSIDA (The College Sports Information Directors Association of America) plus a First Team selection to the United Soccer Coaches 2018 NCAA Division II Scholar All-America squad as a Marketing major with a 3.77 grade point average.

She will receive her award on Saturday, January 12, 2019 in Chicago, Illinois during the United Soccer Coaches' annual All-America Ceremony and Reception which is part of the organization's national convention.
