Brookville, N.Y. - Junior Andrea Huntzinger scored the game's only goal as the top-seeded LIU Post women's soccer team defeated fourth-seeded University of Bridgeport 1-0 at Pioneer Soccer Field on Wednesday afternoon.
With the win the Pioneers, now 15-2-1 on the year, advances to the ECC Championship final where they'll meet the second-seeded Mercy College.
LIU Post dominated the first half, outshooting the guests 12-3, and didn't have to wait long to net the game-winner. Amidst heavy pressure by the Pioneers, Erin O'Connor delivered a through ball to the streaking Huntzinger, who, from inside the 18 converted on the one-touch, left-footed finish.
Despite continued pressure in the second half, the hosts failed to find an insurance marker but also limited Bridgeport to just four shots and, fairly easily, rode their one-goal lead out to the final whistle.
Junior Hillevi Eklow made two saves and recorded her 10th shutout of the season in a match that saw her side outshoot its opponent 20-5.
LIU Post's Championship final match-up will take place on Friday, November 1 at 1:00 PM at Pioneer Soccer Park in Brookville, N.Y.
